Tony Bale, Torr Marine Owner - Qualifications and Experience

After a career in marine science which has taken me to locations as diverse as Tahiti, The Falklands and Rodrigues in the Indian Ocean, as well as some less exotic sites like the Humber Estuary and North Sea, I started business as a professional skipper early in 2008. This was built on over 25 years’ experience of offshore sailing and yacht racing.  I obtained my RYA Yachtmaster (Ocean) certificate in 1983 and qualified as an RYA Yachtmaster Instructor in 2010.

Two sailing highlights have been completing the Shetland Round Britain and Ireland race with my brother as co-skipper in 2006 and an Atlantic crossing from Portugal to the Caribbean via Madeira in 2008 – a good way to spend the UK winter.
